Rang De Basanti - Picture Perfect!!!

I always believed there were two kinds of Hindi Movies these days --- One in which Emraan Hashmi was there and the other where he was not there...................And then I saw the third kind ...

I am really not the blogger kind but I thought that I should write at least a few words about the one thing that I have been really passionate about in a long time. So here goes my first blog...

It is not your usual flick. RDB is a call for action. A perfect blend of the past and the present, it is put across in such a fashion so as to invoke patriotism minus all the excessive jingoism that is usually associated with such movies. Every person involved in the making of the movie has to be commended for their efforts for coming up with the best movie I have watched till date. Calling 'Rang De' an awesome movie would be an understatement which, I am sure, has surpassed the expectations of everyone who saw the movie. Though I don't want to spoil the fun for those who have not seen the movie as yet, the following are my thoughts on RDB

The first half of the movie is totally bindaas - a la DCH with all the wise cracks and the feel good aspect - totally enjoyable. But among all the fun, the transformation has already begun, you start feeling proud to be a part of this unique nation with such a rich and eventful past. Not until you are well into the second half do you actually see the plot developing and then RDB takes the turn for the better - Firstly for the total unpredictability of the plot and secondly for the treatment of a sensitive topic . ARR has done a great job (as usual) throughout the movie with the impeccable songs and a faultless background score. The songs, all of which run in the background, in no way hamper the narration but only manage to give the desired affect. The cast has done total justice to all the characters. It is not the usual Aamir Khan movie where importance is given to his character alone. Everyone has their part to play which have been executed to the T. I also found the screenplay ( the way the story goes back to the serious past and comes back to the light hearted present smoothly) and the voiceovers of Sue and Mckinsley to be refreshingly new.

After watching the movie, one can definitely feel the adrenaline pumping to do something about the "system". It makes us see that something has to be done (and can be done) by each and every one of us, apart from incessant bitching and cribbing, to change the present pathetic scenario. Seen at a time when I have applied to universities abroad and waiting for admits, I left the Cinema hall with mixed feelings but definitely with the josh to do my bit for "cleaning" up this great nation we call Hindustan!!!

Well, we did have discussions on this....... It's completely heartening to know that movies of the awakening-kind also exist, sparsely though.
You are so right in saying, do it rather than waiting for someone doing it for u.... although I wonder how practical it is, given the hindrances in the society. Although, one who surpasses these obstacles is the real Hero .
Hats off to the RDB crew for their genuine cause which goes beyond pocketing bucks alone!
